Gophers redesign their season tickets program

For the 2012-2013 season, a lot of things will be changing for the truly devoted Gophers fans.

The University of Minnesota decided the pricing was wrong for their season tickets, but, instead of changing the prices, instead required a donation based on the seats held, ranging from $100 to $400. While some long-term fans abandoned the season tickets, the Gophers say the numbers are still very comparable. And, with the donations, the facilities (Mariucci and Williams in particular) have been improved to the tune of $8 million.

What bugs most ticket holders, though, is that everyone was re-seated. It was based on a rather vague "point system" of investment in the teams and loyalty. Some fans have purchased season tickets in the same place for years, and there's been a fair share of grumbling that people are being moved - to new seats and away from friends.

Regardless, this year the Gophers sold about as many tickets as last year, so it's clear that people still support the Golden Gophers!
